Clinical psychology: Aims of psychological intervention
· The aims of psychological intervention seem to be very varied. Theoretical orientation and personal therapuetic style will account for some of the variation. Each intervention will be chosen based upon the context of the moment and the goal that is sought. But a primary classification to which all interventions can be placed might be: Un.) Targeting negatives - alleviate suffering/address problems e.g., Education/increasing self-awareness of denial B.) Targeting positives - Strengthen or enhance positive traits. e.g., Building higher levels of self-awareness at times of stress
