It is differentiated from alcohol dependence by the lack of symptoms such as tolerance and withdrawal. Alcohol abuse is sometimes referred to by the less specific term alcoholism. Sin embargo, many definitions of alcoholism exist, and only some are compatible with alcohol abuse. There are currently approximately 9 million alcoholics in the United States alone, with comparable numbers in other countries. According to Max Fisher, the author of How I Stopped Drinking, there is little if any difference between the terms alcohol abuse, alcoholic, and alcoholism. O, significant correlations exist between alcohol abuse and other substance abuse disorders.[1] Alcohol psychology Alcohol use Alcohols Alcohol (grain) Alcoholic beverages Alcohol drinking attitudes Alcohol drinking patterns Legal drinking age Drinking behavior Drinking culture Social drinking Alcohol abuse Alcoholism Alcoholic hallucinosis Acute aclcohol intoxication Alcohol intoxication Alcoholic psychosis Alcohol withdrawal Binge drinking Blood alcohol concentration Chronic alcoholic intoxication Children of alcoholics Delirium tremens Driving under the influence Drunkenness Korsakoff's psychosis Underage drinking Alcohol consumption and health Alcohol and cancer Alcohol and weight Alcoholic liver disease Blackouts Effects of alcohol on the body Fetal alcohol syndrome Long-term effects of alcohol Treatment of alcohol problems Alcohol education Alcohol detoxification Alcohol rehabilitation Alcoholics anonymous Alateen Alcohol (abstinencia) Assessment in alcohol psychology Codependency Drug usage screening Sinclair Method Sobriety This box: view • talk • edit Contents 1 Ver también 2 References & Bibliography 3 Textos clave 3.1 Libros 3.2 Papeles 4 Material adicional 4.1 Libros 4.2 Papeles 5 External links See also Alcohol drinking patterns Alcoholism Alcohol intoxication Alcohol withdrawal Blood alcohol concentration Codependency Couple therapy and alcohol abuse Drug abuse Drug abuse liability Polydrug abuse Underage drinking References & Bibliography ↑ Hasin D et al (2007).
